The human sundial

You can tell the time on a sunny day by where the home worker sits in the garden, following the shade.

With her back to the house: early morning, squinting slightly as the sun isn’t high enough to be shaded by the parasol.

Sideways on to the house: lunch time (the accompanying sausage sandwich may be an additional clue here).

Facing the house: early afternoon.

Of course this only works when the wind is not gusting, the wasps are not gathering and the neighbours are not bellowing too loudly.
